ForwardKeys Connect allows you to configure data deliveries using any of the available cloud transfer methods in self-service mode. There are two options:
- creating the connector, then attaching views
- establishing the connection for a specific view
In this article, we will explain the second scenario. Before starting, make sure you are familiar with the basic concepts used across the ForwardKeys Connect platform concerning cloud transfers: connector, connection and delivery. We clarify them in the article What are connectors, connections and deliveries?
Establish the connection for a specific view
We recommend this path if you only have a few data views that you wish to transfer to your cloud environment, or if you wish to indicate a different specific path inside your cloud account (and use a different Connector) for each data view - to help organise them.
- Make sure you have correctly defined the custom view covering your specific business needs. If you are not sure how to do this, learn more from this article. You can also configure the cloud deliveries for a master view, but we highly recommend using custom views instead, to optimise the volumes of data to transfer and the related costs.
- Go to My workspace, find your view and open the page with its details. You can do it by simply clicking on a row or by choosing the Connect option from the three-dots menu.
- Click on the ADD CONNECTION button and select your preferred cloud transfer method from the dropdown. You can read about the modalities we offer here.
- A modal window will open and you will need to provide some details, which will vary depending on the connector type you selected. Some setup may be also needed in your cloud environment (for AWS policy or Azure token). If you are not sure where to find the information you need, use the external links below this article.
- Once you save (if all the information is correct) we will establish the Connection for your selected view, begin the initial data delivery and schedule future periodic deliveries with refreshed data. Learn more on how the data refresh works for different Data Smarts and how to treat the data you receive in this article.
- As all the necessary details concerning your cloud environment are now saved in our system, you will be able to reuse the same Connector (with the same directory it indicates) to get data based on other views in just a few clicks (see scenario 1).
